Fairborn police asked for the assistance of the Dayton Bomb Squad after reports of a dumpster fire led to officials finding suspicious 2-liter bottles near an apartment complex.
Around 6:40 p.m., firefighters responded to a dumpster fire in the 1800 block of Woodvine Street, the parking lot of the Ivy Manor Apartments. When putting out the fire, firefighters found two suspicious 2-liter bottles and requested police to come to the scene.
Fairborn police officers agreed the bottles appeared suspicious, potentially homemade "bottle bombs," and requested the Dayton Bomb Squad come to dispose of the bottles.
When the Bomb Squad arrived they relieved the pressure from inside of the plastic bottles and Fairborn detectives collected the evidence for the following investigation. Because of the close proximity to the apartment complex, this case is being considered an aggravated arson, police said.
Fairborn officers do not have any leads on suspects at this time, but an investigation is ongoing.
There was one arrest the scene on an unrelated warrant, police said.
