Photos released of Washington Twp. Taco Bell robbers

WASHINGTON TWP. — Two men — one armed with a rifle — robbed a Taco Bell in Washington Twp. on Monday night, deputies said.

According to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the restaurant at 5837 Far Hills Ave. just before 10 p.m. on a reported armed robbery.

Deputies said an initial investigation found the two robbers entered the store, pointed guns at the employees, and demanded cash.

The robbers took an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area. It’s not clear if they fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Deputies attempted to track the suspects with a K9 officer from Miami Twp. police, according to the report. While still searching for the suspects, deputies received reports of shots fired in Riverside. They also talked with a man in Dayton who said two men — one with a handgun and one with a rifle — pointed the weapons at him.

Four hours after the robbery, deputies checked out a weapons complaint at the Northland Village Apartment Complex, and witnesses describe a vehicle that they spotted moments later with two men inside.

Deputies chased the vehicle at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour but lost the vehicle, according to reports. They’re checking reports that the men in the vehicle are those involved in the Taco Bell robbery.

Heather Walden works in a medical office located next to the Taco Bell restaurant. She said everyone in the area is re-evaluating security measures.

“That’s scary, very close, to have a … rifle pointed at you,” she said.

The first robber is described as a male in his early 20s, 6-feet-tall, weighing around 160 to 180 pounds. He wore a pair of black jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, red face mask. He’s believed to be the one who pointed a rifle at the clerk.
