A Dayton man was arrested after he allegedly attacked his friend for refusing to go out drinking.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call on Idlewilde Boulevard around midnight Saturday. According to Dayton police reports, “a male gave the street and could be heard saying don’t hurt me again.”
Police said officers responded and found two men, one of whom was covered in blood and apparently suffering a broken nose.
The injured man told police the other man became upset with him because he wouldn’t drink with him, according to the report.
Police said a fight broke out that led the alleged attacker to grab an axe and hit the victim with the blunt side.
Gary F. Rodgers, 50, was arrested and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of felony aggravated assault.
