The second defendant charged in the 2011 slayings of Robert and Colleen Grube has been sentenced, and Mercer County Prosecutor Matthew Fox said he hopes it will provide "some sense of finality" for the victims' family and friends.
Trevin Sanders, 19, was sentenced to two life sentences without the possibility of parole, and an additional 25 years for having a gun while committing aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
Sanders is the second to be sent to prison in the case.
Bryant Rhoades, 22, was sentenced last week to two life sentences plus an additional 36 years for the gun specification.
Investigators, who worked for over a year on the case before making an arrest, said Sanders and Rhoades tied up and shot to death 70-year-old Robert Grube and his 47-year-old daughter, Colleen, in their Ft. Recovery home.
In a prepared statement, Prosecutor Fox said "the criminal justice system is inadequate" to address this crime.
"The perpetrators of these horrific crimes were weak and immoral ... Nothing that law enforcement officers do, that prosecutors do, or that courts do, can come close to redressing the damage intentionally inflicted upon the victims and their families by these perpetrators," according to Fox's statement.
