COVID-19 Response Fund awards additional $111K to local nonprofits

The COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton has awarded grants to 10 local nonprofits within the last week.

The grants, totaling $111,077, will assist the organizations in their efforts to provide basic human needs to the region’s most vulnerable population.

The COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton was established by The Dayton Foundation and United Way of the Greater Dayton Area in partnership with philanthropic, government and education institutions.

Nonprofits that received the grants are as follows:

  • Dayton Sewing Collaborative ($10,000) to aid in making face masks that will be given free of charge to healthcare and human services organizations.
  • El Puente Educational Center ($15,750) to assist in providing food to families in need.
  • Episcopal Retirement Services Affordable Living ($5,600) to aid in providing food to low-income elderly residents.
  • Kettering Backpack Program ($13,000) to help provide food to underserved residents in Kettering.
  • One Bistro ($6,810) to assist in offering curbside ‘Grab and Go’ meal boxes for Greene County residents in need.
  • South Community ($18,350) to aid with telehealth equipment to better serve clients.
  • United Church Homes ($10,000) to help provide food to senior citizens in need who reside at four local Trinity communities.
  • Widows Home of Dayton ($15,000) to assist in providing food to residents.
  • With God’s Grace ($7,567) to purchase supplemental, nonperishable food items and packing supplies.
  • Wright State University Foundation ($9,000) to aid in supplying food to students in need.

46 grants totaling $610,377 have been awarded from the COVID-19 Response Fund to date.

Nonprofit organizations that are helping individuals and families with immediate, basic needs, such as food, housing, mental health and safety, in response to COVID-19, are encouraged to apply for a grant at www.daytonfoundation.org or www.dayton-unitedway.org.
