Coronavirus: Community Golf Course in Dayton reopens today

DAYTON — Community Golf Course in Dayton will reopen today after being closed since early April due to COVID-19 concerns.

Golf carts will be limited to one person and tee-time intervals have been increased, according to a release from the City of Dayton. Anyone in common public areas will be asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing of at least six feet. Commonly touched items like water fountains, ball washers and bunker rakes have been removed.

“We are taking every precaution to ensure our golfers and staff are protected,” said Robin Williams, Director of Recreation and Youth Services in the release. “We want to encourage residents to come out and enjoy the course, but while you are, it’s imperative that you stick to the new safety precautions we have in place.”

Official league play has been tentatively scheduled to begin June 22.

Last week the city announced it was permanently closing Madden and Kittyhawk golf courses.
