Bishops reinstate holy obligation to attend Mass

The holy obligation to attend Mass for Catholics is being reinstated starting next month, according to the Catholic Conference of Ohio.

Holy obligation to attend Mass in-person resumes June 6. A mask mandate will also be dropped for Churches of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati once the statewide mandate is lifted on June 2, according to a news release.

Catholics have been dispensed of their Sunday mass obligations during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Starting June 2, most health orders in Ohio will be lifted. Businesses, facilities, and organizations will have the choice to continue health restrictions, like masks and social distancing, but it will be up to them rather than required.
