DAYTON — The Human Race Theatre Company is moving its entire 34th season to the 2021 calendar year and will reopen The Loft in February.
[ Coronavirus Pandemic hits Dayton's arts community hard ]
Executive Director Kappy Kilburn, and Kevin Moore, artistic director and founding member, said since March, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to close its season, the company has worked with state and local officials, union representatives and other producers across the country to strategize reopening the theatre.
Kilburn and Moore said they listened to their audiences’ concerns about group gatherings and desires for a safe return to live theatre on stage.
"After much thoughtful contemplation, we have decided to move forward with a new time frame for our full 'Dayton Premieres' season," Kilburn and Moore said.
Season packages will be mailed this fall and tickets will be adjusted based on preferred date and time in the run.
The theatre also is refining its “reopening safety protocol” so everyone can return with confidence. The details of the plan will be announced before the new season begins, Kilburn and Moore said.
Meantime, Kilburn and Moore said the theatre is working on more virtual events for this fall. They are asking those interested to check with humanracetheatre.org for updates.
