DAYTON — Families with children age 18 or younger may apply for special coronavirus relief funds under the Prevention, Retention and Contingency program through the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services.
You could qualify if you make up to 200% of federal poverty level guidelines.
If your family is experiencing hardship due to COVID-19, you could apply for a $400 payment to be used for cleaning supplies, thermometers and hygiene items. You also can be considered for up to $1,000 in funding if you are having trouble making your rent, mortgage or utility payments. Families can then potentially qualify for up to $1,400 in COVID-19 PRC relief funds.
You can fill out an online application, save it with a new name, and email it to montgomery-workactivities@jfs.ohio.gov.
Hard-copy applications are available in the green Child Support entrance, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, on the west side of The Job Center. Hard applications can be placed anytime in the drop box in front of the blue Family Assistance entrance or you can photograph the application and email it to montgomery-workactivities@jfs.ohio.gov.
Pregnant mothers can apply for this special funding even if they don’t have other children. Grandparents and other relatives who have custody of children may apply as well. Customers can also apply if they applied for another type of PRC funding not related to COVID-19, but the combined housing and utility funding cannot exceed $1,000 in a 12-month period.
Customers need to fill out the COVID-19 PRC application completely and also include a current telephone number to ensure the fastest processing possible.
While not mandatory, applicants are also encouraged to submit this voter registration form with their application.
