Just more than 2,000 employees from throughout the region have been furloughed since mid-March in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the state stay-at-home order, which was extended Thursday to May 1.

The public notices of closures and layoffs were filed this week with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

In nearly every circumstance. human resources directors with each company, in memos to ODJFS, said the intent is to call back the workers once the state emergency is lifted.
The furloughs were announced from March 16 through March 24. The listings were posted to the ODJFS website March 31.

200: Augusta Sportswear Inc., in Sidney, Shelby County
167: Ross Casting and Innovation, in Sidney, Shelby County
121: General Aluminum Manufacturing Co., from its Wapakoneta facility
120: Gissing North America, in Sidney, Shelby County
65: Economy Linen, from its Dayton plant on Mead Street
The week of March 23, Norcold Inc. in Sidney laid off 345 workers at its two plants in Sidney and Gettysburg, Ohio.
