HUBER HEIGHTS — One of the Huber Heights Wayne High School football coaches has tested positive for COVID-19, the school district reported Thursday, and that has led to the cancellation of the remaining practice/workout sessions scheduled for Friday.

“This particular coach was most recently present during the afternoon football training session July 14,” Nate Baker, athletic director for Wayne High School and Weisenborn Junior High School said in a statement posted to the Huber Heights City Schools website.
The coach was not identified by name.
Monday, July 20, will be the earliest the football team will have any type of training in light of the positive test, Baker said. The student athletes/coaches that have been determined to have been in contact will have more stringent return requirements, he said.
“Every one of our coaches and student athletes have been required to complete the daily check in process; which includes a self-symptom questionnaire, taking of their temperature and wearing a mask at all times other than activity,” Baker said.
“As a result of this, we have been able to easily follow the tracing protocol and have determined a list of student-athletes and coaches that now will be required to follow our ‘Direct contact with COVID case’ process, he said, noting that all of these individuals and their families have been notified directly.
