Convicted sex offender arrested for third time this year for failing to register his address

CELINA — A convicted Mercer County sex offender is in jail again, arrested for the third time this year, for failing to register his address, Sheriff Jeff Grey said Wednesday.

Christopher Berogan, 29, was taken into custody Wednesday and booked into the county jail on one count of failure to register, a felony.

Berogan was released from the jail May 27 after pleading guilty to one count of failure to register. He was sentenced to probation through Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

He registered an address on Oregon Road when he was released from jail, which he is required to do. Berogan never went to that address and the sheriff’s office several tips that he was again living at 1400 W. Market St. in Celina.

Deputies investigating the tips found them to be accurate. They were able to get an arrest warrant for Berogan, who is in jail without bond pending an initial appearance in Celina Municipal Court.
