ODOT prepares for weekend snow

Ohio — Ohio Department of Transportation wants to remind drivers to be extra careful while their crews begin to plow the potential incoming snow this weekend.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect, as we can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow by Saturday, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said.

ODOT is prepared with nearly 60,000 tons of salt to spread over seven counties, according to an ODOT press release.

“Our ‘snow-fighters’ work hard to clear snow and ice, but we need the public’s help as well,” said ODOT District 8 deputy director Tammy Campbell. “Please give our drivers plenty of room to work. Plow trucks typically drive much slower than other traffic and can propel large amounts of heavy snow, so be extra alert when driving near them.”

There are 160 trucks and more than 300 drivers ready to combat the potential snow, according to ODOT.
