Police: Driver runs red light, causes chain-reaction, rollover crash

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m. 

A driver who ran a red light and slammed into the side of a water delivery truck is believed to be the cause of a multi-vehicle crash in Trotwood Sunday.

Four people were injured in the crash but police said all injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

One of the vehicles ran the red light and crashed into the truck, sending the truck on its top and creating a chain-reaction that collected at least three more vehicles, according to investigators.

Salem Avenue was blocked in both directions at Turner Road for about three hours. Dispatchers said all lanes reopened around 4 p.m.

UPDATE @ 1:50 p.m. 

At least five vehicles, including a water delivery truck were involved in a crash at the intersection of Salem Avenue and Turner Road in Trotwood Sunday.

The water delivery truck, which had the business name Crystal Water Company on it, ended up on its top in the crash.

At least four medics were sent to the scene, but the severity of the injuries were not available.

Salem Avenue remains blocked in both directions.

FIRST REPORT

Salem Avenue is reportedly shut down in both directions at Turner Road in Trotwood after a serious crash Sunday.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Salem Avenue and Turner Road around 1:05 p.m. on reports of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries.

Initial reports also indicate at least one person was trapped inside a vehicle and another vehicle was on fire. Four medic units have been requested to the scene, according to scanner traffic.
