WATCH: Flames engulf Miami County barn, damages home

MIAMI COUNTY — UPDATE @ 11:25 a.m.:

Cruiser camera video shows deputies pulling up to the scene of a fire at a barn on East Statler Road Saturday morning.

The video shows significant flames shooting from the building.

The fire also damaged the exterior of a home nearby.

INITIAL REPORT:

Damages estimated at $200,000 in a barn fire that spread to the exterior of a home in the 1200 block of East Statler Road early this morning near Piqua in Miami County.

The incident occurred at 2 a.m. Saturday morning and firefighters did not clear the scene until 6 a.m.

Seven parked cars and a pickup truck were destroyed along with the barn.

Two Miami County Deputies on routine Patrol were able to get themselves into the house and wake the family of six who lived in the home.

There were no injuries and the displaced family is currently living with relatives. The cause of the fire is currently listed as “undetermined.”

Piqua fire officials praised the actions of the two sheriff’s deputies to get into the home and lead the family to safety before the fire spread to their rural home.

Fire departments from Troy, Casstown, Fletcher, and Lockington provided Piqua Fire Department with mutual aid at the scene.
