I-75 NB in Piqua reopens after hours-long closure due to semi-trailer fire

PIQUA — The right lane of I-75 Northbound is shut down in Piqua as crews handle a semi-trailer that caught fire early Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to a fully engulfed semi-trailer around 12 a.m. on I-75 Northbound right before the Miami Rest Area.

All lanes were shut down in the area for roughly three hours.

The Piqua post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said no one was inside the trailer when it caught fire and fire crews were able to separate it from the power unit.

The trailer is loaded, OSP said, so crews are having to go through and unload the trailer to make sure nothing else is on fire.

We will update this story once lanes have reopened.
