Dayton PD Chief, commissioners express concern over dog bites

Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl and city commissioners expressed concern over the recent dog bites that have occurred in the city in recent weeks during Wednesday’s city commission meeting.

Last month, 60-year-old Maurice Brown was killed by a pit bull in the 300 block of Middle Street.  So far, police said no one has come forward as the caretaker of the suspect dog.

After a law that would have strengthened state law regarding dangerous dogs failed to pass the Ohio House last year, state Sen. Bill Beagle, R-Tipp City, said he vows to reintroduce a revised version of the bill.

On Sunday, a man was charged with failing to control his dog after police said it bit a 7-year-old boy on South Smithville Road.
