Here's a breakdown of what you need to know to get through the weekend:

Heavy rain: Today and this evening heavy rain and storms will move through. Minor flooding and ponding on the roads can be expected.

Wind: Wind will be gusting this afternoon and evening. Winds more than 40 mph outside of any storms can be problematic. Isolated power outages are possible. Holiday decorations and lawn furniture could be blown around or damaged. Driving also will be difficult because of the strong winds, so leave space between you and the cars around you.

Cold air: This will move in quickly, with a 20-degree temperature drop expected by Sunday. Below freezing temperatures, light snow showers and flurries will be possible tonight and early Sunday. Accumulation should not be an issue, but there may be some isolated slick spots on bridges and overpasses.
