Pigs perish in Miami Co. barn fire

UPDATE @ 9:45 a.m.

The property owner tells us he lost several show pigs in the fire, an estimated loss of $20,000.

The ones that survived the fire were injured and may need to be put down.

Damages to the barn were estimated at $40,000.

A passerby knocked on the owner’s door to tell him the barn was on fire.

The property owner tried to put the flames out and was able to contain the blaze to the back of the barn.

Firefighters arrived and put the rest of the fire out.

The cause was under investigation.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters are currently battling a fully engulfed barn fire in the 7500 block of East Loy Road in Miami County.

Multiple jurisdictions have responded to the blaze, and initial reports indicate animals may be trapped inside the barn.
