Shelby County pursuit ends with suspect crashing into construction equipment

SHELBY COUNTY — A Michigan man is in the Shelby County Jail facing a variety of charges following an early morning high-speed pursuit.

It started when the driver, Michael Brule, 34, was driving the wrong way on a one-way street in downtown Sidney, investigators said.

A Shelby County deputy attempted to stop the driver when the pursuit started southbound on CR-25A at speeds of more than 80 mph.

What the suspect didn’t know was 25-A was closed several miles ahead for a bridge replacement at Kirkwood Road. He smashed a large road closed sign, flipped his car and struck a piece of construction equipment.

He suffered minor injuries.

He’s been booked into the Shelby County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
