DAYTON — UPDATE @ 8:55 a.m.
Two children and one adult were transported to local hospitals as a precaution after a childcare bus was involved in a crash on Interstate 75 south in Dayton Thursday morning.
The crash was caused by a mechanical failure on the bus, according to investigators. The failure caused the bus to veer off the right side of the road, then went back onto the roadway across three lanes of traffic, before the bus crashed into the median wall.
After hitting the wall, an SUV also collided with the bus, police said.
The occupants of the bus, two children and one adult, were taken to area hospitals for observational purposes.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
A crash involving a childcare bus has been reported on southbound I-75 at Stanley Avenue.
The crash was reported around 8 a.m. Two medics have been requested to the scene.
The crash involves a bus belonging to ABC Leap into Learning, according to our crews on scene.
Traffic is getting by in the far right shoulder. All southbound lanes are closed.

HUBER HEIGHTS — Executive Boulevard lanes in Huber Heights reopened after being closed for several hours following a gas leak Thursday morning.
Crews continued to make repairs to the leaking gas line that evacuated fifteen business along the road around 11 a.m., according to Huber Heights Fire Chief Mark Ashworth.
Ashworth said a construction crew working in the area struck a 6-inch gas main directly under Executive, which caused the gas to leak from underground.
Executive is one of the city’s most commercial areas and Ashworth said the leak would impact the businesses in the area.
Utility companies, including DP&L and Vectren, worked on scene to isolate their utilities as well.
