Political sign printer says politics led to knife incident

WEST CARROLLTON — A man who runs a sign printing company said a knife was pulled on him Sunday after two men argued with him over politics and kicked over political signs he printed for residents.

Rick Dobson, of West Carrollton, said he’s been printing Republican candidate political signs during the Presidential elections since 2004 and each weekend he puts hundreds of signs he’s printed in his yard.

This past weekend, Dobson said two men approached him and began discussing politics and during the discussion he said one of the men pulled a knife on him after arguing and kicking several of his Donald Trump signs.

West Carrollton police said they are investigating the incident and the case has been referred to the prosecutor’s office for review of possible charges.

Dobson said this was the first time he’s ever experienced someone be violent with him over the signs. Dobson said it’s common for individuals to discuss politics when they come to pick up a sign from his yard.

The West Carrollton resident said people are welcome to take one of the hundreds of signs he puts out each weekend at his Alex-Bell Road residence.
