2 juveniles hit crossing I-275 north of Cincinnati were in a group of 12

UPDATE @ 11:25 p.m.:  The two juveniles hit by at least one vehicle were part of a group of 12 young people trying to cross I-275 in Hamilton County from a park, a Colerain Twp. police spokesman told our news partner, WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.

The two who were hit suffered non-life threatening injuries and their parents have been notified, said the spokesman, Jim Love.

According to the police investigation, the group was crossing the interstate from Clippard Park, in the area of Hamilton and Colerain avenues.

The other children ran when police arrived, Love said.

"I just hit someone on the highway," a driver who hit one of the teens told a 911 operator.

Love said the driver, who told the operator he was not hurt in the collision, was cooperating with police.

Several other people also dialed 911, reporting that some of the teens had reached the center median. They said several drivers got out of their vehicles to help the teens.

"A pedestrian was struck on the interstate," one man told a 911 operator. "They were trying to cross and -- bam -- they got hit. They got hit hard."
