How are they now? Donkeys in high water rescue staying dry

SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Donkeys Pancho and Eddie are staying dry and doing well.

The pair were trapped in water up to their necks and had to be rescued Feb. 25 from their flooded field in the 3600 block of Lower Valley Pike after a neighbor spotted them.

The donkeys owner, Tim Arnold, was away from home after he was unable to reach his property due to the high water.

Pancho, the smaller donkey, was treading water before the rescue and had to rest his head on Eddie’s back to keep from drowning, rescuers said.

The pair stayed at a neighbor’s barn until Arnold could repair the fence that had to be cut to free the animals.
