Police investigate after man shot in leg shows up to local hospital

UPDATE @ 1 a.m (4/11/18): A 24-year-old man is expected to be okay after he was shot in the leg on Willowwood Drive Tuesday night.

According to Dayton police, the man showed up to Miami Valley Hospital just before 8:30 p.m. after he was shot outside the 30 block of Willowwood Drive by an unknown suspect driving a dark colored SUV.

Officials do not have any suspects or suspect description at this time.

The victim’s injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation, but police have seized a car they believe may be involved in the shooting.

UPDATE @ 10:23 p.m.: Police have seized a car they believe may be involved in a shooting reported Tuesday night. The coupe was taken off Willowwood Drive.

A Dayton police forensic investigator said police aren't sure the shooting occurred on Willowwood, but do believe the car somehow is involved.

INITIAL REPORT

Police are investigating a report of a shooting involving a victim who either took himself or herself to a hospital or was taken there by private conveyance.

Miami Valley Hospital emergency room personnel called Montgomery County Regional Dispatch just before 8:30 p.m. to report they were working on a gunshot victim.

A sergeant with regional dispatch said authorities were given information that the shooting is believed to have occurred on Willowwood Drive in Dayton.

The victim's condition is not known.
