Police will pursue OVI charge against driver in Xenia work van crash

UPDATE @ 5:08 p.m.: A 27-year-old West Carrollton man is being charged with OVI and failing to maintain reasonable control of a vehicle in the Monday morning crash near North Detroit and East Main streets, Xenia police said.

Police are continuing to investigate what Jon Holmes was using or had been using to cause them to pursue the OVI charge. Police did confirm a witness statement that huffing -- sniffing fumes (from gasoline or solvents, for example) for a euphoric effect -- may have been involved.

He was driving a McAfee work van at the time of the accident.

Two of the three people injured in the accident were bystanders hit by flying debris, police said. Their conditions are not known.

At last check, Holmes was bring treated at a hospital. The injuries to all three are said to be non-life threatening, police said.
