Driver injured in rollover crash in Darke County

ANSONIA — UPDATE @ 6:00 p.m.:

At 8:13 a.m. Saturday, crews responded to an injury accident in the area of SR 118 and Beamsville-Union City Road.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigation revealed that a 1992 maroon Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on SR 118 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the right side of the road.

The vehicle struck a bridge guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest in a small creek bed.

The driver, Ronald Christian, 68 of New Weston, was transported to Wayne Hospital.

Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies, Ansonia Rescue, Ansonia Fire Department and Greenville City Fire Department all responded to the accident.

INITIAL REPORT:

Deputies responded to a rollover crash in Darke County Saturday morning.

The accident occurred in the 9400 block of SR 118.

According to deputies, it is believed that a man was driving northbound on SR 118 when he suffered a medical emergency causing him to travel off of the right side of the roadway and over a guard rail.

The vehicle then reportedly rolled into a waterway and came to a rest on its top.

The driver of the vehicle had to be mechanically extricated and was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Greenville City Fire assisted on the scene as mutual aid for Ansonia Fire and Rescue.
