Darke County man says he’s sorry for sex abuse of young child

A Darke County man apologized for the sexual abuse of a young girl and said he deserves prison today during his plea hearing.

Kyle L. McGlothin, 29, was sentenced to 14 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery in Darke County Common Pleas Court, our news partner BlueBag Media reported.

"I am just really sorry for what I did," McGlothin said during his hearing. "I am standing up like a man and I deserve prison time."

The abuse occurred at least two times from May to September 2016 at McGlothin’s home near Rossburg. His victim was a girl younger than 10, prosecutors said.

As part of the deal, two counts of rape – which could carry a life sentence – and two counts of gross sexual imposition were dismissed. He was sentenced to seven years on each charge, to serve consecutively for a total of 14 years behind bars. Once McGlothin is released from prison, he will be required to register his address every 90 days with his local sheriff’s office for the rest of his life as a Tier III sexual offender, BlueBag media reported.
