UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m.:

A homeowner called 911 after his Shawnee Trail house caught fire Friday morning, destroying the building.

Firefighters said the homeowner was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, but he’s expected to be OK.

According to firefighters, they were able to contain the fire, but did spray water on neighboring homes to make sure flames didn’t spread.

Ron Kuhn lives in the neighborhood and looked outside and within minutes smoke filled the area and suddenly fire started pouring out of the house.

The majority of damage to the house was on the right portion, which is where the chimney was located, however firefighters have not said what caused the fire.

It’s not known if the house had working smoke detectors, firefighters said.
