U.S. 35 in Preble County open again after collision dumps 150 gallons of diesel fuel

UPDATE @ 11 p.m.: The driver of an SUV is to be charged as the at-fault driver in a collision with a semitrailer on U.S. 35 West at state Route 320 that shut down the highway for as many as eight hours.

The driver of the SUV was taken by Medflight to Kettering Medical Center.

Her condition was not immediately known but she was conscious, alert and talking when medics put her on the helicopter, said troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

She will be charged with improper passing, they said.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured, troopers said.

The highway was shut down in both directions after the accident, reported about 2:15 p.m., because the semi spilled approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel.

The highway reopened about 10 p.m. after an EPA crew completed the cleanup, according to dispatchers at the Dayton post.
