UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m. (Sept. 5): The Angus bull that got out of its enclosure has been put down by its owner, the Greene County Sheriff's Office reports.

The owner is said to have caught up with the animal off Jasper Road late this afternoon. No other details are available.

FIRST REPORT (Sept. 5)

A 600-pound Angus bull got out of its enclosure on a farm on Waynesville Jamestown Road, just south of Jamestown.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the errant bovine at 12:40 p.m.

Several deputies responded to the area in an effort to locate and coral the animal, but it had not been sighted since it went missing.

As of mid-afternoon, the bull had not been located, according to the Greene County Emergency Dispatch Center.
