Underage drinking party fatal shooter sentenced

UPDATE 4:09 p.m.:

Evan Hoffman was sentenced to five years in prison for reckless homicide for shooting and killing Branden Dosek.

INITIAL REPORT:

A Logan County man could be sentenced for up to five-and-a-half years in prison for the fatal shooting of a Shelby County teen last December.

Evan Hoffman, 20, pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in July and a felonious assault charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Hoffman shot a killed Branden Dosek, 16, of Shelby County, during an altercation at an underage drinking party at Hoffman’s residence in the 600 block of County Road 21 on Dec. 27, 2015.

Hoffman is scheduled for sentencing Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
