Police investigating gunshot at apartments near Wright State

Greene County Sheriff’s deputies, Fairborn Police and Wright State Police are investigating after a man trying to sell a cell phone fired a shot in to the ground when the would-be buyer of the phone tried to steal the phone. The would-be robber fled the area and has not been located by police.

The incident happened in the 3700 block of Kettering Court in Fairborn, near Wright State University.

According to dispatch traffic, a woman called 9-1-1 stating she heard someone yell ‘freeze, stop’ then heard a gunshot. No one was injured.

Police received multiple calls about the gunfire and are interviewing multiple apartment residents and the person who fired the shot.
