Snow possible with frigid air for rest of week

The National Weather Service has canceled all Winter Weather Advisories in the Miami Valley.

Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek said light snow will continue across most of the area, with the exception of areas north - especially north of U.S. 36 - where little to no snow will fall.

Temps will fall into the teens.

“Final accumulations still stand from earlier,” Wirdzek said.

Today’s Accumulations

• 3 to 6 inches south of Dayton
• 1 to 3 inches in Dayton and along I-70
• 1 inch or less north of I-70, little to no accumulation north of US 36

“Frigid temps will occur after the snow, ensuring untreated roads will be nasty into the morning commute,” Wirdzek said.

Lows by Tuesday morning will be in the mid to single digits, with wind chill values below zero.

Tuesday: There'll be a mix of sun and clouds with slippery roads in the morning. Highs will reach the low 20s. Snow showers are expected Tuesday night ahead of another shot of frigid arctic air. A minor accumulation is possible by Wednesday morning.

Lows will be in the single digits, wind chill below zero.

Wednesday: More snow will be possible at times, especially if northwesterly winds help to bring in some added moisture from lake Michigan. Another small accumulation is possible. Highs will be in the mid teens and the wind chill will be at or below zero.

Thursday: It will be still breezy and cold. A passing flurry is possible, but issues on the roads are not expected.

Some drifting and blowing snow will be possible along open roads as the cold air will make the snow-pack brittle. Highs will be near 10, with wind chill values below zero.

Friday: A frigid start of below zero is expected before mostly sunny skies and temps warm to near 20 by the afternoon.

More light snow is possible late Friday night.

Saturday: Some light snow will be possible at times, but it may be warm enough for a little rain to mix in, especially south of Dayton. Highs will be in the mid 30s.
