Urbana home struck by lightning

A Champaign County man came home for lunch Wednesday and found smoke coming from his house after being hit by lightning.

The home is in the 5000 block of N. Ludlow, Salem Twp. in Champaign County.

He was able to put out a fire about 12:45 p.m. and called the Fire Department.

Fire officials confirmed his home had been struck and all his plugged-in electrical appliances had been fried.
