ODOT shares afternoon road conditions

UPDATE @ 11:15 a.m.:

The Ohio Department of Transportation provided an update this afternoon about the condition of roads in the area.

ODOT says:

  • Auglaize County currently has approximately 2 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are wet with some slick spots and crews are battling some windy conditions, blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 14 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Champaign County currently has approximately 2 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are partially covered. ODOT has 13 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Clark County currently has approximately 1.75 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are partially covered and crews are battling some windy conditions, blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 18 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Darke County currently has approximately 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are starting to clear and are mostly wet. ODOT has 13 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Logan County currently has approximately 4 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are still slick and covered in spots and crews are battling some windy conditions, blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 13 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Mercer County currently has approximately 1 inch of snow on the ground. The roads are mostly wet, but crews are battling some windy conditions blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 15 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Miami County currently has approximately 1 inch of snow on the ground. The roads are mostly wet, but crews are battling some windy conditions blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 20 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.
  • Montgomery County currently has approximately 1/2 inch of snow on the ground. The roads are mostly wet and the interstate is starting to clear up. ODOT has 19 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.

  • Shelby County currently has approximately .75 inches of snow on the ground. The roads are wet but, crews are battling some windy conditions blowing snow back onto roads. ODOT has 11 crews out working to keep the roads clear in this area.

MORNING REPORT: Snow-covered roads are causing traffic to move slowly on the highways this morning.

Drive times are doubled on the highways this morning.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has an active an alert for slow traffic on Interstate 75 at U.S. 35.

There is also an alert for westbound U.S. 35 at Steve Whalen as of about 8:40 a.m.

The weather caused some crashes and slide-offs in the area, as well.

A car went into the median on northbound I-675 near Dayton Yellow Springs around 7:40 a.m.

Earlier, the right lane of northbound Interstate 75 was closed at Wagner Ford where a truck hit the wall around 6:30 a.m. It was re-opened around 7:30 a.m.

There was also a crash where westbound U.S. 35 turns into northbound Ohio 49. A car hit a pole there around 6:15 a.m. The driver was taken to the hospital to be checked. Crews cleared the scene just after 7 a.m.
