Garage fire on Rice Rd. in Celina spreads to house

UPDATE @ 5:10 p.m.:

News Center 7’s Steve Baker reports the garage, house and a shed were damaged in the fire. The garage and house were destroyed.

The fire in rural Mercer County required mutual aid from Mendon and Rockford departments.

The family was home at the time of the fire and were able to get out safely. The cause remains under investigation.

FIRST REPORT:

A fire reported in the 8200 block of Rice Rd. was found in a garage about 11:40 a.m., and spread the home next to it.

Rice Rd. is reportedly closed between Oregon and Rt. 197.
