Fire causes minor damage to UD house

Firefighters say discarded cigarettes started a small fire that damaged a house on the University of Dayton’s campus.

Crews were dispatched to the 200 block of K Street on a reported structure fire by UD Police around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say cigarettes found near the house were to blame for the fire that damaged both parts of the exterior and interior of the house.

Damage is estimated around $3,000 and no injuries were reported. The house was currently unoccupied following the end of the spring semester last week.
