Fairborn woman drowns at Caesar Creek Lake

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and was investigating the second drowning death of the season at Caesar Creek Lake.

Sabrina Perdue, 22, of Fairborn was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital Saturday night after being pulled from the lake in Warren County.

On May 24, Robert “Bobby” Stegemoller, 47, of Maineville, was boating with his daughter on the lake, east of Waynesville, when he tried to retrieve their boat as it drifted away from an island where they had stopped for a picnic.

The daughter tried to save Stegemoller herself after calling 911 about 4:40 p.m., Sunday, but had to leave him after they struggled to stay above water, resurfacing twice before he went down for the last time, according to Scott Hines, fire chief in Massie Twp.

On Saturday, Perdue was flown by Careflight helicopter to the Dayton hospital about 9:30 p.m. Perdue was floating on an innertube in the lake when it did a “slow rollover,” according to Hines.

Perdue was not breathing when she was brought to shore but first responders performed CPR. She was flown to Dayton Hospital, where she later died.

No new information as immediately available Monday from state or local authorities investigating Perdue’s death.
