Driver trapped in car with wires down in Springfield

A crash that snapped a pole and brought down lines forced the driver to stay inside his car for almost two hours.

It happened around 3:45 a.m. in Springfield Twp. on Ohio 72 in the 2600 block just south of Interstate 70. The road was closed there.

The man was not seriously hurt, according to Sgt. Merrill Thompson. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

Ohio Edison responded to the scene and the driver was freed around 5:30 a.m.
