Driver ejected in West Carrollton rollover crash

UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m.

A driver was ejected in a serious rollover crash tonight along South Alex Road.

The crash was reported shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of the 1600 block of South Alex Road at Elmwood Park Drive.

“A gentleman lost control, went left of center, tried to regain (control), hit the curb and flipped his vehicle,” said Deputy Police Chief Robert Hensley of the West Carrollton Police Department. “He was ejected and was able to crawl to the side of the road.”

The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to Kettering Medical Center with serious injuries, Hensley said.

One witness said she ran from her condo after hearing “the loudest boom I ever heard.”

She ran to aid the driver, who was only saying, “It hurts,” said the woman who only identified herself as Kristin.

“I held his hand, kept him in focus,” she said. “He did not know what was going on. I told him he was lucky, his car’s really messed up. … I just hope he’s OK.”

Witnesses said his vehicle flipped several times and that the driver appeared intoxicated; however, police have not confirmed that report.
