UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.:
A school bus crash this afternoon sent two drivers to the hospital, one by medical helicopter, and injured five children, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to preliminary investigation, the Little Miami Schools bus with 17 students aboard was rear-ended by a Honda Ridgeline. Both vehicles were headed west on state Route 22 when the bus stopped at the Middleboro Road intersection to make a left turn.
The driver of the pickup truck, 56-year-old Mark W. Brashear, of Loveland, was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. No information about Brashear’s condition was available Wednesday night.
The driver of the 2000 International bus, Carla D. Eskridge, 53, of Morrow, was taken to Bethesda Medical Center at Arrow Springs in Lebanon, where she was treated and released.
Five students suffered minor injuries, troopers said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and the crash remains under investigation.
UPDATE @ 6:03 p.m.: The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident with the school bus on state Route 22 was flown to Miami Valley Hospital, according to a spokeswoman for Little Miami Schools.
The student on the bus ranged in grade from kindergarten through sixth grade, according to the district, and all parents have been contacted.
FIRST REPORT
At least one student is believed to have been taken to a hospital from a school bus accident on state Route 22 at Middleboro Road, in what is being described as a rear-end collision.
There were as many as 18 students aboard the Little Miami Schools bus, we’re told. Those other students are on another bus, waiting for their parents and guardians to come get them.
The accident was reported about 4:15 p.m.
