Air Force mom returns from Afghanistan, surprises daughter at school

Aleya Johnson went to school this morning in Huber Heights thinking her mom was still serving in Afghanistan.

That was until her mother, still dressed in an Air Force uniform, walked through the door of the Weisenborn Junior High School.

The teary surprise reunion happened at lunch – six months after Sgt. Altasia Johnson was called overseas.

“I wanted to make it more special and surprise her,” Johnson said.

Aleya, 13, was staying with her grandparents in Huber Heights while her mom was in Afghanistan.
