Tip leads to man’s arrest on felony drug charges

Police got a tip that a man was selling drugs outside a residence on W. Riverview Ave.

When police checked out the tip, they found a man who matched the caller’s description seated in the car with another man standing outside the vehicle. In the arresting officer’s report, the driver ran from the officers as they told them they wanted to talk to him.

The man was taken down by one of the officers and vigorously resisted arrest, according to the report. The officer tased the man four times before he would be handcuffed.

Travis Mathews, 27, is in Montgomery County Jail.

He is facing felony drug charges, misdemeanor resisting arrest and obstructing official business charges. The report indicates police found heroin and cocaine caps, and $845 cash in the man’s car.
