Endangered missing man found safe in Dayton

UPDATE @ 2:40 a.m. June 23:

Dayton police say an endangered missing man is safe after being located early Tuesday morning.

Police say James Paterson was found around 1 a.m. lying in a field near the intersection of 5th and Keowee streets in Dayton. Officers noted that Patterson appeared fine when he was found.

Patterson was transported to his residence at the Riverside Nursing Center, but was checked out by a medic before being allowed to return according to police.

Patterson had been missing since he left the center early in the morning on Saturday June 20.

UPDATE @ 10:30 a.m. June 22: James Patterson is still missing, according to the Attorney General's website. We're following up today with the Sheriff's Office to find out more. The area where the man is missing from is a block from Riverside Drive and the Stillwater River, and four blocks north of the Siebenthaler bridge.

FIRST REPORT: The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has issued an Endangered Missing Adult Alert.

James Patterson, 62, was last seen early Saturday morning walking away from his residence at the Riverside Nursing Center.

Patterson, described as white, 5’8, 180 pounds with brown hair and eyes, suffers from dementia. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black sweat pants.
