RTA bus struck by gunfire in Dayton

An RTA bus will be temporarily taken out of service after it was struck by gunfire Friday night.

The driver told police he heard five to six loud gunshots as he drove along in the 3900 block of Nicholas Avenue shortly after 10 p.m., according to the Dayton police report.

Officers found one bullet lodged in a door and another struck and shattered a passenger window.

Neither bullet passed through to the interior, where seven passengers were aboard, according to the report.
