Preble man shot in the face with shotgun

A man helping a woman move some of her personal property out of a Preble County home was shot in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun. Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson says the victim has hit with rubber bullets, which caused severe injuries to the victim’s face.

The shooting on Saturday afternoon occurred around 1:30 p.m. at a home on Bantas Creek Rd. The victim was driven to the dispatch center, where EMT’s were called to respond.

Sheriff Simpson said the alleged shooter is David H. Shindeldecker, who has a prior domestic violence conviction from 1998. He is facing several felony charges, including felonious assault, having weapons under disability and domestic violence.

Simpson said Shindeldecker lives at the home with his mother and the woman used to live there. She had gone to the residence to retrieve some personal items with the victim, who was not named.

Shindeldecker remains in Preble County jail.
