Update@1:30 p.m.:

Police was dispatched to the scene just before noon on a report of a male who was shot while in a car, which was parked in front of a store said Lt. Mark Ponichtera of the Dayton Police Department.

The victim, who has not been identified, is in his mid-20s, Ponichtera said. Homicide detectives are on the scene, and they are interviewing witnesses, he said, noting that the victim’s vehicle will be towed for processing.

The victim’s body was taken to the Montgomery County Corner’s Office.

“Right now, we are seeking the public’s help in this incident,” Ponichtera said. “We are very concerned about what happened here today. This particular store has a lot of traffic from people who live in the neighborhood here, and it’s very unfortunate something like this happened in such a crowded area.”

Detectives have preliminary information about suspects, but they are not releasing any information until they get confirmation, Ponichtera said.

He asks that anyone with information about the shooting call Crime Stoppers at 222-STOP.
