Police arrest juvenile, recover stolen Pontiac

The suspect is a male juvenile teenager who is being held on theft and failure to comply charges, according to Dayton police spokeswoman Cara Zinski-Neace.

The suspect was believed to be involved in a shooting, but investigators are not confirming that now, Zinski-Neace said.

FIRST REPORT

The suspect crashed the red Pontiac shortly before 9:50 a.m. in the front yard of a home in the 4600 block of Sylvan Drive.

Police said the driver ran away, but officers found him hiding in the back of a pickup truck.

He is a suspect in a shooting, according to the supervisor on scene.

Officers initially communicated they were pursuing a possible homicide suspect, according to the call log at the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

Police were pursuing the car as it headed down Whitmore Avenue. The suspect drove off the road and went through two chain-link fences before stopping.
