UPDATE @ 3 p.m.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Roy K. Staten.

He is being held in the Miami County Jail on suspicion of felony inducing panic.

FIRST REPORT

A standoff lasting over two hours in Troy ended with a man surrendering and telling police he didn’t remember the event occurring.

Police responded to the 300 block of Morehead Street in Troy around 2:45 a.m. Saturday on reports of multiple gunshots going off inside a residence according to Troy Police Captain Joe Long. Officers say when they arrived at the home a man walked outside, then retreated back inside the house into one of the bedrooms, and refused commands from officers to come out.

Police say the man continued to refuse verbal commands from officers for over two hours. The Miami County Special Response Team forced entry into the house around 5 a.m. by breaking a window to the house and deploying a flash bang. The unidentified man then exited the house shortly after and surrendered to police without further incident.

Police have begun to question the man, who has told officers he does not remember any part of the standoff.

“He is making the statement that he was intoxicated,” Long said.

Police say the man did not have a weapon on him when he surrendered and are seeking a search warrant to begin searching the home.

Police have not said what the man might be charged with, and his identity was not immediately available.
